Karen earned a bachelor’s degree in Health Science, with a focus on public health, and a Master’s of Public Administration. She has an extensive record of over 15 years of public service including her current service on the Utah County Planning Commission, Springville Jr. High and Springville High School Community Councils, Springville Youth City Council, and Springville Fire Rehab and CERT teams, and past service on the Springville Planning Commission, Springville Board of Adjustment, Springville Library Board of Directors, Active Transportation Committee, President of the Springville/Mapleton PTA council overseeing all elementary school PTA’s in the area, and other various leadership roles. Karen works in law enforcement as a civilian Public Information Officer, and also has responsibilities in campus safety compliance, policies, records management, mental health and wellness (peer support), and event security. She previously worked in the Provo City Mayor’s office helping to develop and implement the popular "Provology 101" a citizen education program and other citywide projects.
